Fourteen. That’s how young I was when I bought my first pickup. It was an old beat up 1969 Dodge D100. It took 4 years of hard work, but with some help and guidance from my dad and a few other guys, it turned into a very nice-looking truck that runs great. Rebuilding that truck from the chassis up, started my appreciation for bigger projects–turning something run-down into something awesome and tailored specifically to fit my needs.
Seventeen. That’s the age I was when, by God’s grace, I was accepted into Peterson Caterpillar’s highly competitive technical training program to become an equipment technician. During my time there, I learned how to work on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and powertrain using innovative diagnostic and maintenance systems and high-tech tools.
Eighteen. That’s the age I graduated from the Peterson CAT ThinkBig program and began my career as a shop mechanic for Peterson in Medford.
Nineteen. That’s the age I earned a promotion to field mechanic for Peterson where I enjoyed the personal, one on one interaction with customers. What a humbling experience. You think you know everything about working on heavy equipment until you are all alone with a customer who has a million-dollar piece of equipment broke down and they are relying on YOU to fix it. There was a lot of crying out to the Lord for wisdom in those times and I learned a lot, both mechanically and relationally.
Twenty-two. That’s the age I married my wonderful wife, Anna. I came to realize, after a couple years being a field mechanic, that I did not get to see my family very often due to the long hours required to successfully fulfill my duties. This is where the Lord really started working on my heart to be home for my family. My dad had always let me work with him and it taught me the importance of excellence in work, as well as the importance of relationship, regardless of the size of the job. I want the opportunity to pass these same values along to my children.
Twenty-three. That’s the age that I sold my rebuilt 1969 Dodge D100. It’s also the year, that after much prayer and seeking guidance from God, my wife and I formed and launched DNA Vehicle and Repair LLC. This has definitely been a hard step from a nice, reliable paycheck at Peterson, to trusting the Lord for our next bill to be paid. Thanks to much help from the Lord, our friends, and family, here we are today — ready to be of service to you! Give us a call with your automotive needs!
